CTEK MULTI XS 25000 (12V) - Press Cuttings
Increase to the CTEK family - the MULTI XS 25000 and MULTI XT 14000 CTEK, August 2004. by Ctek Sweden AB
Something happened in the world of battery chargers two years ago. A newcomer from Sweden launched the CTEK MULTI XS 3600 and turned life on its head for users and competitors alike. Never before was it thought that a charger could be so easy to use, flexible and safe, while being able to charge batteries in double-quick time.
CTEK is now the largest manufacturer in the country, and is expanding rapidly in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. More models have been added and it is now time for the long awaited larger models.
The CTEK MULTI XS 25000 gives an impressive 25A at 12V while the CTEK MULTI XT 14000 is the first 24V model with 14A as max current.
These newcomers are not just chargers. They can revive sulphated batteries and analyse a battery's status. They can operate without interruption from the low voltage supplied from wall sockets which benefits marine and caravan users.
Modern batteries are more efficient and demand less maintenance, but they are also a little more sensitive. The current needs to be free from harmful alternating current. Over-discharged batteries need special treatment in order to maximise service life and capacity. No other charger is as considerate towards modern batteries as the new chargers from CTEK. As many as eight stages are used to regain loss power to the batteries.
A new feature is that the charge voltage is automatically adjusted to match the ambient temperature. A sensor lets the charger's processor maintain the voltage at the correct level. A virtually unique quality is that this sensor can be extended, shortened or trimmed while the charger continues to work. It is more and more common for chargers to react irregularly if there is a problem with these sensors.
Maintenance charging can be done in two different ways. CTEK has previously selected the more forbearing pulse maintenance method as standard, but this has now been combined with a patent-pending float method that concentrates on achieving maximum capacity to the detriment of service life. The new chargers start with the float method and then switch to pulse if the battery has not been used for a while.
Other benefits of CTEK chargers go without saying. They are spark free, short circuit proof and reverse polarity protected. They can normally be connected without first disconnecting the battery, and they can be used outdoors.
